Green Data Centre
Just a conceptual overview
The Key issue for modern data centre (DC) is the amount of power drawn for its operation and to run its facilities. In recent years, the cost of power for the DC has exceed the cost of the original capital investment.
For higher power-density facilities, electricity costs account for over 10% of the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a data centre. In addition, data centre use diesel generators for backup power and major energy sources that heavily depend on coal production to produce electricity, contributing to the environmental hazard of running large, power hungry facilities. Information and communications technologies contribute 2% of global carbon emissions, with data centre accounting for 13.8% of that mark.
At this trend, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from data centre are projected to more than 1.5 times in 2020 than that as of now.
- Energy Efficiency = Lower energy
- Greater return on investment= More investment capital
- Less use of resources = Lower environmental Impact
