What is DCBX
DCBX is known as Data Centre Bridging Capability Exchange. This is one type of ethernet extension used to improve the networking and management at Data Centres. It discovers peers and exchange configuration information between DCB compliant bridges.
DCBX works with LLDP to permit switches to conversation information about their data centre bridging (DCB) capabilities and configuration and automatically exchange common Priority Based Flow Control.
Data is exchanged in type-length-value (TLV) format as in LLDP. For DCBX to function on an interface LLDP must be enabled on that interface.
DCBX permits auto exchange of ethernet parameters between switch and other end point devices.
It has a prime feature as priority-based flow control (PFC) which provides capability to manage single traffic source (burst signals) on a multiprotocol link.
It helps in identifying congestion in a network, logical link down, mismatched configuration etc.
