Basics of IGRP
IGRP (Interior Gateway Routing Protocol)
IGRP is a distance vector protocol coordinate and communicate the routing information within network.
- It can be used for complex networks and is fast responsive to any network change.
- It allows gateway to build their routing table communicating with other routing tables.
EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol)
- EIGRP is a classless, enhanced distance vector protocol.
- It is used for automating routing decision.
The main features for EIGRP:
- Supports both IPv4 and IPv6.
- Classless
- Efficient discovery
- Best path selection
Reliable Transport Protocol (RTP)
A propitiatory protocol, which manages communication between EIGRP and routers. Reliability is a major concern here too.
Other cool metrics such as Bandwidth, Reliability, Delay, Load, Maximum transmission unit etc.
